A Balanced Beginning
What a puppy eats plays an important role in their growth, development, and overall well-being.
At Ladybug Goldens, we focus on providing a consistent and balanced diet that supports steady growth without unnecessary complexity.
Our goal is not to overcomplicate feeding, but to give each puppy a strong and reliable nutritional start.
Our Current Feeding Program
Our puppies are currently fed:
Valu Pak Free 28–20 (Black Bag)
This food provides:
- Balanced protein and fat levels
- Support for steady growth
- A formula we have found to be well tolerated
Consistency is important during early development, and we choose a food that allows puppies to grow without frequent changes.
Feeding Schedule
At the time your puppy goes home, they are typically eating:
3 – 4 meals per day
- Evenly spaced throughout the day
- With access to fresh water at all times
Maintaining this schedule during the transition helps your puppy adjust more comfortably to their new home.
Transitioning Food
If you choose to switch your puppy’s food, we recommend doing so gradually.
A slow transition helps avoid digestive upset and allows your puppy to adjust comfortably.
A general guideline:
- Days 1–3: 75% current food / 25% new
- Days 4–6: 50% current food / 50% new
- Days 7–9: 25% current food / 75% new
- Day 10+: fully transitioned
Every puppy is different, adjust as needed.
What Goes Home With Your Puppy
To help with a smooth transition, each puppy goes home with:
- A starter supply of their current food
- Feeding guidance and schedule
- Support if you have questions during the transition
Keeping things familiar during the first few days helps your puppy feel more settled.
Keeping It Simple
There are many feeding options available, and it can feel overwhelming.
We believe in keeping things simple and consistent, especially during the early stages.
A stable routine, balanced nutrition, and careful observation go a long way in supporting your puppy’s health.
Ongoing Support
If you have questions about feeding, transitions, or nutrition, we are always here to help.
As your puppy grows, their needs may change, and we are happy to offer guidance along the way.
A Healthy Start
Nutrition is just one part of raising a well-balanced dog, but it is an important one.
A steady, thoughtful approach to feeding helps support the growth, development, and long-term well-being of your puppy.
