Our Parents

My parent dogs are not just part of a breeding program. They are beloved members of our family and live with us in our home. Whether relaxing in the living room, playing in the yard, or joining us on outings, they are part of our everyday life and treated with the love and respect they deserve.

You are welcome to meet the parents of your future puppy. These meetings can be arranged on puppy selection day, during pick-up, or through video calls beforehand.

Getting to know the parents allows you to see their temperament, health, and personalities firsthand, giving you confidence in the beautiful lineage your puppy comes from. If you would like to meet them virtually while you wait, just let me know.

Visits

To ensure the well-being of my dogs and their puppies, all visits are by appointment only and are limited to approved applicants who have placed a deposit.

I schedule visits to meet the puppies or their parents only after the puppies reach the appropriate age, typically between 6.5 and 8 weeks, and only for those already on our list.

Raising these little ones is a full-time commitment, and I truly appreciate your understanding and respect for our schedule.

How to Tell What Color Your Puppy Will Be as an Adult

Golden Retriever puppies often change color as they grow, but over the years, I have found a few simple ways to get a pretty good idea of what their adult coat might look like.

Look at the Ears

In my experience, a puppy’s ear color is often the most reliable indicator of their adult coat. The fur on their ears is usually a bit darker than the rest of their body and gives a helpful preview of what’s to come.

Check the Parent Dogs

Take a close look at the parents. If both parents are on the lighter side, chances are the puppy will grow into a lighter shade as well. The same applies to darker-colored parents.

Puppy Coat vs. Adult Coat

Golden Retriever puppies start with soft, fluffy coats. Their adult coat begins to come in around six months and usually finishes developing by about 18 months.

Watch for Shading

Some puppies have patches of lighter or darker fur on their bodies. These areas may blend over time, but they can offer a clue about the overall tone of the adult coat.

Genetics and Lineage

If you are ever curious about your puppy’s future color, I am happy to share insights about their lineage. Some of my lines tend to produce lighter goldens, while others lean more toward a medium or darker shade.

Whatever their color ends up being, Golden Retrievers are such beautiful, loving companions. Their coat is just one of many wonderful things that make them so special.
