Occasionally, yes. We reserve the right to retain first choice from any litter. This helps us maintain our focus on health, temperament, and the breed standard. Puppy families make their selections after our choice has been finalized.
How do I reserve a puppy from Ladybug Goldens?
Begin by completing our Puppy Application. Once approved, a $100 non-refundable commitment deposit secures your place on our reservation list. When puppies are born, an additional $200 non-refundable deposit is due. The full $300 is applied toward your puppy’s final purchase price. If puppies are currently available, the full deposit is required at the time of reservation.

While you wait, we share regular updates, including photos and videos, so you can watch the puppies grow and prepare to welcome your new family member.
5. Puppy Selection
Puppy selection takes place on pickup day.

Our parent dogs are not just part of a breeding program. They are beloved members of our family and live with us in our home. Whether relaxing in the living room, playing in the yard, or joining us on outings, they are part of our everyday life and receive the love and respect they deserve.
You are welcome to meet the parents of your future puppy at pickup or through a video call beforehand.
Getting to know the parents allows you to see their temperaments, health, and personalities firsthand. If you would like to meet them virtually while you wait, please let us know.
Visits
To protect the well-being of our dogs and puppies, all visits are by appointment only and are limited to approved applicants who have placed a deposit.
Visits are scheduled only at an appropriate stage for the puppies and for families already on our list. We appreciate your understanding and respect for our schedule.
How to Tell What Color Your Puppy Will Be as an Adult
Golden Retriever puppies often change color as they grow. Over the years, we have found a few simple ways to estimate what their adult coats might look like.
Look at the Ears
In our experience, a puppy’s ear color is often the most reliable indicator of their adult coat. The fur on their ears is usually a little darker than the rest of their body and offers a helpful preview of what is to come.
Check the Parent Dogs
Take a close look at the parents. If both parents are on the lighter side, chances are the puppy will grow into a lighter shade as well. The same applies to darker-colored parents.
Puppy Coat vs. Adult Coat
Golden Retriever puppies start with soft, fluffy coats. Their adult coat begins to come in around six months and usually finishes developing by about 18 months.
Watch for Shading
Some puppies have patches of lighter or darker fur on their bodies. These areas may blend over time, but they can offer a clue about the overall tone of the adult coat.
Genetics and Lineage
If you are curious about your puppy’s future color, we are happy to share insights about their lineage. Some of our lines tend to produce lighter Golden Retrievers, while others lean toward medium or darker shades.

What Our Health Guarantee Includes
Initial Veterinary Check
Every puppy is examined by a licensed veterinarian before leaving for their new home. They will be up to date on vaccinations and deworming.
Genetic Health Guarantee
We guarantee that your puppy will be free from serious genetic health defects for up to one year. If a genetic issue arises during that time, we will work closely with you to find a resolution, which may include offering a replacement puppy.
Lifetime Support
We are here throughout your puppy’s life. Whether you need help with training, nutrition, or general care, we are always happy to offer support and guidance.
Owner Responsibilities
To maintain the health guarantee, new owners must:
- Take their puppy to a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of pickup.
- Provide consistent care, a proper diet, and regular veterinary visits.
